More charges in St. Patrick's Day riot

LONDON, ONT.

More than two dozen people have charged in the St. Patrick's Day riot in London that caused more than $100,000 in damage and saw a CTV news van set on fire.

London police announced charges Wednesday against six people, bringing the total number charged to 25. Eleven are students at Fanshawe College.

Craig Saunders, 21, Ryan Stanhope, 20, and Jordan Lawlor, 18, are charged with mischief under $5,000 and being a member of an unlawful assembly.

Jason McCoy, 25, is charged with arson, being a member of an unlawful assembly and two counts of mischief under $5,000.

Courtney Willett-Aho, 20, of London is charged with assault and being a member of an unlawful assembly.

Nick Zelinski, 18, of London is charged with being a member of an unlawful assembly.

In total, five people are charged with the trashing of the TV news van: McCoy, Saunders, Stanhope, Nathaniel Green and Robert McCarron.

About 1,000 young people, many students at nearby Fanshawe College, gathered outside homes on on March 17.

The mob set the TV news van on fire, pelted 50 police officers with bottles and other objects and defied orders from police to disperse.

Damage and the cost of emergency personnel at the scene is estimated at $100,000.

Police are asking the public to help them identify four people who were photographed at the riot but haven't been ID'd.
