Norfolk General Hospital has taken precautions after an outbreak of a respiratory illness on the fourth floor.

Visiting is still allowed, but patients are restricted to two visitors at a time on the fourth floor. The hospital is asking the public to “restrict yourself to visiting your one patient only and avoid all other areas of the hospital after your visit. Do not visit the hospital if you are feeling ill.”

NGH asks that if you have any questions, please contact the 4B ward by calling 519-426-0130 Ext. 4221.

The hospital is also taking other precautions such as increased cleaning, cancelling activities, and freezing admissions and new transfers.

Currently, five patients on the fourth floor are showing symptoms such as headache, cough, runny nose, fever, malaise and sore throat, NGH said in a media release.
