Members of the Bridgeport Royal Canadian Legion in Richmond, B.C., are shocked after 10 ceremonial flags were stolen from a container Friday night.

They say the theft has left them without flags for their Remembrance Day ceremonies.

"Missing are two seven foot tall ski bags which contained approximately 10 flags and 10 brass coloured flag poles," RCMP Cpl. Stephanie Ashton said in an email. "Two flags were noted to have the label Legion 291. The other eight flags were Canadian flags."

Legion member Bob Miller said they "hope someone will see the bags and will call, to get them back to us before Monday.”

Added Ashton: “I hope that out of respect for the significance these flags hold, someone will come forward with information about the flags so that we can get them back to the legion.”

No suspects have been identified at this time.
