Environment Canada issues special weather statement for London region ahead of rainfall

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement and may boost it to a rainfall warning as tropical moisture from a slow-moving low pressure system moves into Southern Ontario.

The agency said the widespread rainfall is expected to start overnight or early Tuesday morning and end Tuesday evening.

Rainfall amounts are forecast to range from 25 to 40 mm, but could exceed 60 mm in some areas.

Environment Canada said warnings will be issued if a widespread rainfall of 50 mm or more appears to more certain.

The special weather statement covers much of southern Ontario, including the London and Middlesex area.
