SIMCOE -

The creepy clown craze sweeping North America apparently touched down in Simcoe last week.

A concerned Simcoe resident contacted police around midnight Friday after observing two men in a white pickup truck behaving suspiciously on Chapel Street.

A passenger in the Dodge Ram was wearing a clown mask. He was observed exiting the vehicle and jumping in front of passing motorists.

The men involved are both 23 years old. Norfolk OPP caught up with the pair and released them after warning them about their actions. No charges were laid.

“This incident has the potential to have devastating effects not only on the male jumping in front of vehicles but the unsuspecting motorists who had to take evasive action in order to avoid striking the male and seriously injuring or killing him,” Const. Ed Sanchuk, a spokesperson for the Norfolk OPP, said Monday in a news release.
