The Oxford OPP has announced it will hold a press conference to provide an update on the multi-jurisdiction death investigation.

The event takes place Tuesday, Oct. 25, at 10 a.m. at Goff Hall in Woodstock.

“At that time, senior members of the Woodstock Police Service, London Police Service and the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Criminal Investigation Branch will update the public on the outcome of this investigation,” police stated in a news release.

Police have been tight-lipped about a death investigation involving three police forces in the southwest region.

A suspect has been identified, but Sgt. Dave Rektor with the Western Region OPP could not confirm whether that person is in custody, nor could he provide any description of the suspect.

The death that was first investigated by Woodstock Police on Sept. 29 became the subject of a “multi-jurisdictional death investigation” as of Oct. 5. Police said in a media release that the investigation “could encompass Woodstock city, London city as well as the counties of Oxford and Brant.”

Rektor said investigations that extend outside of a police force’s boundaries are referred to the province’s major case management coordinator, which is why the Woodstock Police Service is now collaborating with other forces under OPP Det. Insp. Ron Hagerman’s direction.
