A barn fire killed 16 chickens and caused $100,000 damage in Windham Centre on Sunday morning.
The fire at 15 Windham Lane was fully involved when firefighters arrived at the scene at about noon.
“Quick actions and good tactics by our crews saved the nearby home from significant damage: only a section of the home's siding received heat damage,” Norfolk County Fire Prevention Officer Scott Pipe said in a media release.
Combustible materials that caught fire near the barn are deemed to be the cause. A lawn tractor used earlier in the morning had ignited the materials, said Pipe.
The homeowner was treated as a precaution by Norfolk County EMS at the scene.
