Police blotter: Robbery suspects charged

Two people have been arrested in connection to a violent assault and vehicle theft in Hagersville.

The incident occurred May 15 on Main Street North.

Haldimand OPP said the owner of a 2016 Lincoln MKX SUV was approached by an unknown male demanding the keys to the vehicle. During a brief struggle, the victim was struck in the head area with an alleged firearm.

The suspect then entered the vehicle and fled the area.

A 20-year-old male from New Credit has been charged with robbery using a firearm, assault, assault with a weapon, theft of a motor vehicle, theft under $5,000, failing to comply with a probation order, disobeying a court order.

A 31-year-old Hagersville woman has been charged with robbery.

Driver charged

An 18-year-old Norfolk woman has been charged following a collision on Davis Street in Simcoe on June 16.

Norfolk OPP say her vehicle left the roadway and struck a fence, coming to rest in the field where a baseball diamond is located.

The driver suffered minor injuries. She has been charged with disobey stop sign and driving while under suspension.

 

Tires slashed

Tires of a vehicle parked on Imperial Street in Delhi were slashed on June 16.

Norfolk OPP say the vehicle was damaged sometime in the early morning hours.

 

Male asleep on sidewalk

A man was seen lying on a sidewalk on Main St. in Port Dover before 1 a.m. Sunday.

Officers spoke with a passerby who had been attempting to wake the man for about 20 minutes.

As a result, police charged a 40-year-old Jarvis man with being intoxicated in a public place. He was issued a Provincial Offence Notice.

Wallet stolen

A wallet was stolen from a vehicle on Donly Drive South in Simcoe June 19. The incident took place in the early hours. The vehicle was said to be unlocked.

Police are reminding residents that “if you see something, say something.”  If you see suspicious activity or behaviour around your vehicle or neighbourhood, report it.

Male charged

A 20-year-old Norfolk man was charged on the RONA property in Simcoe on Monday.

A suspicious male and female were reportedly inside a gazebo located at the front of the Davis Street store at around 5:30 a.m..

As a result of investigation, police charged the man with being intoxicated in a public place and engaging in a prohibited activity on premises contrary to the Liquor Licence Act.

Theft from vehicle

A yellow, 18-inch Poulan chain saw and a red and white coloured high pressure power washer were taken from a vehicle on Windham East Quarter Line Road in Simcoe June 18. The incident took place in the early morning hours.

Attempted vehicle theft

An attempted theft of an SUV took place on Simcoe Street near Tillsonburg June 18. The vehicle's steering column was damaged but suspects were unsuccessful. The incident took place in the early morning hours.

Mischief in Turkey Point

Several road plants, trees, for-sale signs and mailboxes on Cedar Drive in Turkey Point were damaged early Sunday morning. Stop signs were also removed from the intersections of Cedar Drive and Ferris Street and Cedar Drive and Landon Street.

Police are continuing to investigate and are seeking the assistance of the public. If anyone has any information, they are being asked to contact the Norfolk County OPP detachment at 1-888-310-11-22.

Vehicle stolen

A 2010, silver coloured, Mazda CX-7 Crossover was stolen from a residence on Norfolk Street North in Simcoe June 18.

The incident took place in the early hours.

Driver charged

A 43-year-old has been charged with careless driving following a collision on Decou Rd. in Simcoe.

Norfolk OPP say the driver was travelling east June 18 at about 2 a.m. when his vehicle left the roadway and entered the north ditch striking a tree.

He was subsequently issued a Provincial Offence Notice.
