Norwich Nostalgia Days draws a crowd

They came to shop, talk, tune into some good music and chow down at the food trucks.
For two days, Norwich Nostalgia Days drew vendors and shoppers both local and from communities across the Ontario.
“It brings the community together, everybody is here. And everyone is having yard sales,” said long time Norwich resident Jantine DeKwant. “It’s like a big moveable feast.”
DeKwant said every year there are more and more vendors and food trucks.
“It’s growing and every year it gets better,” she said.
It was the first time for Paige Vroom who, with her friends, heard about the event on Facebook and decided to drop by and try out the food trucks.
“We came for the food mostly, it’s all unique food,” she said.
Her companion Lisa Van Kesse - who was chowing down on grilled cheese from Fo’cheezey - agreed.
“They have very palatable combinations,” she said.
It was also the first time for Kate Bakos, a collections assistant at the Norwich District Historical Society.
“I think it’s really lovely and it brings the community together,” she said. “You see all walks of life and everyone that comes out has a great time.”
The Food Truck Fest was set up downtown Friday, with live entertainment and the Norwich Junior C Merchants' beer garden. There were also BIA draws for over $2,000 in shopping sprees.
The Norwich Optimist Club and Norwich United Church had Downtown Kids Fun Zone to Main Street and the Norwich and District Museum was be set up downtown for the Friday, but at the Museum on Stover Street on Saturday.
Saturday was another full day of activities, including the annual Kids Fishing Derby, Legion brunch, classic car show, activities at the museum and entertainment at the Legion.
