Fatal collision in Norfolk

Provincial police in Norfolk are investigating a fatal single-vehicle accident that occurred early Saturday morning on Charlotteville West Quarter-line Road.


A pick-up truck was travelling northbound when it left the roadway, entered a ditch and collided with a tree at about 5:21 a.m. The vehicle subsequently caught fire, Norfolk OPP said in a press release.

Norfolk Fire and Rescue and paramedics responded to the collision and firefighters extinguished the fire. Emergency workers found a deceased person inside the vehicle, OPP said.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin and the collision remains under investigation.

Charlotteville West Quarter Line Road is currently closed between McDowell Road East to Charlotteville Road 11. It is anticipated that the road closure will remain in effect for approximately 5 hours to allow for investigation.
