Police blotter: Body of missing angler located



The body of a missing angler has been located in Lake Erie.

Salvatore Tassone, 56, of Grimsby was fishing with a friend at the pier in Port Maitland Tuesday night when he fell into the water.

The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre and Haldimand County Fire Services used their boats to search for Tassone but were unsuccessful.

The OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit located his body on Friday at 12:50 p.m.

Haldimand OPP said a postmortem would be conducted.

Vandalism at school

Two girls were spotted vandalizing the Delhi Public School on Thursday.

The duo, believed to be 12-14 years of age, were seen by a resident at around 6:30 p.m. at the back of the school. A portable classroom on the school grounds was also targeted.

The girls fled the area when the resident called out to them.

Both were wearing dark-hooded sweaters and light-coloured pants at the time of the incident.

Theft from vehicle

Police are investigating after items were stolen from a vehicle on Dogwood Drive in Simcoe.

The theft occurred in the early morning hours of Oct. 29. The vehicle was parked in the residence's driveway at the time.

The thieves made off with the vehicle jack and owner's manual,which contained the key-less entry code to the vehicle.
