A Norfolk woman with no fixed address was sentenced recently in Ontario Court to 240 days of time already served for assault.

Tina Mercer, 41, was arrested in April and charged with three counts of assault stemming from incidents in September and December last year and another on April 15 this year.

In court, she pleaded guilty to one assault with a weapon and a charge of mischief under $5,000 for damaging an iPhone. A charge of using a knife to assault a man in Port Dover last year was withdrawn.

Mercer, who had been in jail since her arrest in April, was given one-and-a-half days credit by Justice Kevin Sherwood for each of the 161 days she had already served, totalling 241 days.

Sherwood also ordered that Mercer provide a sample of her DNA for the national crime databank, pay $200 in victim surcharges and remain on probation for two years.
