A Simcoe lawyer who became a provincial judge earlier this year has moved on to the federal bench.

Mike McArthur was appointed to the Ontario Court of Justice in March after practising law in the local area for 30 years.

This week, Attorney-General of Canada Jody Wilson-Raybould announced that McArthur has been promoted to the Superior Court of Justice for the Province of Ontario in London.

McArthur’s move to the federal bench was one of three appointments Wilson-Raybould announced this week.

This brings to 100 the number of judicial appointments Raybould-Wilson has announced in 2017 – the most by a federal Attorney-General in a decade.
