A Simcoe man who has repeatedly been charged with breaking probation orders pleaded guilty to the charge again in Simcoe's Ontario Court and was sentenced to half a year in jail.

Michael Allan Whittaker, 29, had previously been convicted of breaching probation and failing to attend court when, on Sept. 6 last year, he broke probation orders again.

A few weeks later, on Oct. 4 he didn't report to his probation officer as ordered and he failed to participate in the court-ordered therapy programs he was supposed to attend.

On Oct. 11, he assaulted a woman and tried to confine her to an area.

Justice Kevin Sherwood sentenced Whittaker to time served of the equivalent of 76 days plus another 14 days to equal 90 days on the assault charge and another 90 days for one breach of probation. Several other charges were withdrawn.

Whittaker will have to provide a sample of his DNA for the national offenders databank, keep another two year probation and not own or use weapons for 10 years.
