OHSWEKEN – Six Nations police have seized a cache of firearms in their search of a property suspected of illegal drug activity and investigators have intensified their hunt for wanted man Brett Elliott.

After spending nearly three days executing a search warrant for firearms and combing the house and fields of a property at 2130 Cayuga Road, Six Nations police Chief Glenn Lickers released a statement saying a cache of firearms and stolen property were seized in the search and police have cleared the scene.

They also executed a search warrant on a building at 3644 Sixth Line Road. Police said they were searching for Brett Elgin Elliott, 49. He wasn’t there but they did seize a number of guns.

“Once police process all items seized during the search, criminal charges will be forthcoming,” Lickers said.

Lickers said investigators are continuing to search for Elliott, 49, who was last seen at the Cayuga Road property and remains at large, wanted for several weapons offences.

“Brett Elliott is wanted for his armed confrontation with a group of community members, last Sunday, Lickers said.

He was referring to an incident on March 4 when community members converged at the Cayuga Road property to protest against alleged illegal drug activity at the location. Six Nations police officers arrive, supported by an OPP tactical team, went on the property and removed four people, but Elliott was not there.

In a previous statement, Lickers said Elliott is wanted on charges of illegal possession of a firearm, assault with intent to resist arrest, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, having a firearm in a motor vehicle, flight from police and possession of stolen property.

Police have described Elliott as “violent and anti-police.”

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Elliott is asked to contact the Six Nations Police Service at 519-445-2811 or CRIMESTOPPERS at www.crimestoppers-brant.ca.
