Police blotter: Police chase suspected thief



Police came close to catching a suspected thief in downtown Simcoe this week.

Norfolk OPP were contacted around 6 p.m. Tuesday after a man behind Norfolk General Hospital was seen attempting to enter locked vehicles.

A responding officer spotted a man matching the description but the suspect ducked into a nearby apartment building and the trail went cold.

Norfolk OPP are on the lookout for a bald man about 40 years of age. At the time police were called, he was wearing a dark jacket and dark track pants.

Dental office broken into

A quantity of cash was stolen from a dental office in Simcoe last weekend.

Norfolk OPP did not disclose the location of the office. However, the break-and-enter occurred sometime between Friday and Monday.

The investigation continues.

Bicycle stolen in Simcoe

A bicycle with an estimated value of $200 was stolen in Simcoe this weekend.

The bicycle was locked up at a home on Colborne Street North.

The black and orange CCM mountain bike went missing sometime Saturday or Sunday.

Norfolk OPP are investigating.
