Police blotter: ATM stolen in Caledonia

A Caledonia storefront suffered extensive damage on the weekend during the theft of an automated teller machine.

A vehicle rammed through the entrance of the Big Bee convenience store on Argyle Street South around 4:15 a.m. Saturday. An ATM inside the store was stolen before those responsible fled the scene.

Anyone with information regarding the theft is asked to contact the Haldimand OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

Tips can also be left with Crime Stoppers of Haldimand and Norfolk by calling 1-800-222-8477. Callers to Crime Stoppers who help solve a crime are eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000.

Drivers charged

Haldimand OPP charged two people in separate stunt driving incidents over the weekend.

A 33-year-old Milton man was pulled over on Highway 6 near Jarvis Saturday around 8:45 p.m. Police report the driver was travelling more than 50 kilometres an hour over the posted limit of 80 kilometres per hour.

Around 10 p.m. Sunday, Haldimand OPP pulled over a 17-year-old-male who was driving more than 50 kilometres an hour over the posted limit on Main Street South in Hagersville.

Both drivers had their licences suspended for seven days. The vehicles they were driving were also impounded for seven days.

The pair will answer the charges at the court house in Cayuga at a later date.

Drugs seized during traffic stop

Significant amounts of cocaine and marijuana were seized during a traffic stop in Dunnville this weekend.

Around 8:30 p.m. Saturday, an officer on patrol noticed a vehicle passing through town at a high rate of speed with its headlights off. The vehicle was pulled over.

While the officer was talking with the driver, illegal drugs were noticed inside the vehicle. Marijuana and cocaine were seized, as was a quantity of cash.

A 20-year-old Dunnville man has been charged with possession of cocaine for the purposes of trafficking, possession of marijuana for the purposes of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, driving a motor vehicle without a valid permit, using unauthorized licence plates, driving without headlights after dark, unsafe operation of a motor vehicle, speeding and driving without insurance.

A 20-year-old female from Dunnville was a passenger in the vehicle. Haldimand OPP have charged her with possession of cocaine for the purposes of trafficking, possession of marijuana for the purposes of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

Escalade stolen in Hagersville

A vehicle was stolen last week in Hagersville.

The 2003 Cadillac Escalade was locked and parked on the shoulder of Helen Drive East when it was broken into and taken.

The theft occurred Thursday between 6:30 a.m. and 3:40 p.m.

Haldimand OPP are investigating.

Scaffolding stolen

 

A portion of scaffolding was stolen from a construction site on Maple Lane in Selkirk. The Haldimand OPP has determined that sometime since April 2 at 1:30 p.m., someone went to the property and removed several pieces of scaffolding.

OPP is asking anyone who may have any information regarding this incident or who may have noticed anything suspicious to contact them at 1-888-310-1122.
