Suspects crash near Port Dover
Police wonder if a “Good Samaritan” unwittingly gave a carload of thieves a lift into Port Dover this week.
Norfolk OPP were called after a 2000 Chrysler Neon left Radical Road west of Port Dover and collided with a cedar hedge. The vehicle came to rest in an adjoining wheat field.
The crash occurred around 11 a.m. Tuesday. Norfolk OPP were notified about the mishap about an hour later.
“It was determined that the vehicle involved had been reported stolen earlier in Hamilton,” Const. Ed Sanchuk, spokesperson for the Norfolk OPP, said in a news release.
“It appears the individuals in the vehicle were able to get a ride from a Good Samaritan that stopped to render assistance. They were possibly dropped off in the Port Dover area and police are looking to speak to the Good Samaritan.”
