The City of Stratford will be establishing its own “Jurassic Park” in Market Square for the NBA Finals between the Toronto Raptors and the Golden State Warriors.
The television broadcast of each remaining game of the series will be projected onto a large screen in Market Square for local fans to cheer on the Raptors in their historic championship run.
In the case of rain, the event will be moved inside to the City Hall auditorium.
The planned viewing parties are intended to be free, family-friendly events, with no alcohol or smoking permitted in Market Square.
There will be no food or beverage sales on site, but people can bring their own, or purchase from area merchants.
Those fans who do not plan to stand and cheer for the entire game are encouraged to bring their own chairs or seating.
The washrooms on the lower floor of City Hall will be open for the viewing parties.
Sunday’s game begins at 8 p.m.
Several communities in Ontario are holding their own viewing parties, similar to what the Raptors have become famous for outside of Scotiabank Arena, but on a much smaller scale.
