It’s on top. Again.
Vancouver Island, with its irresistible mix of pristine wilderness and top-ranked food and lodging, has again been voted one of the world’s leading island destinations by readers of Travel + Leisure magazine.
It was named "Best Island in the Continental U.S. and Canada" in the magazine’s annual World’s Best Awards readers’ survey published Friday.
It was also voted the tenth best in the world. Boracay in the Phillipines placed first and Bali, the Galapagos, Maui and Australia’ Great Barrier Reef grabbed the top four spots.
In addition, Tofino, B.C.’s Wickaninnish Inn placed first among Canadian resorts and the Sooke Harbour House, located 45 minutes from Victoria, was voted second.
