According to a new survey from travel app Jetpac City Guides, it does. The app’s creators used geo-parsing technology to analyze more than 100 million public photos on Instagram to create a "smile score" for Canadian cities.
Jetpac’s smile score is defined as the average size of smiles in photos taken in cities across Canada and shared to Instagram.
Using this logic, the app named Kingston, Ont. the happiest – and smiliest – city in Canada. Residents in Regina, Quebec City, Gatineau and Saskatoon also posted lots of smiley photos: they rounded out the top five.
