Ontario Provincial Police released a video Friday in the hope of identifying two possible witnesses in the Sonia Varaschin murder case, nearly four years after the Orangeville nurse went missing.
The grainy surveillance video shows two people walking out of a gazebo in Alexandra Park in Orangeville just before 6 a.m. on Aug. 30, 2010.
"These individuals are potential witnesses and are not suspects in this case," OPP said in a release.
Varaschin’s blood-stained car was found abandoned at Orangeville Town Hall, not far from Alexandra Park, the same day the video was taken.
On Sept. 5, 2010, remains were discovered in Caledon that were later determined to be Varaschin’s.
"Our investigators are as committed to finding Sonia Varaschin’s killer today as we were when it began in 2010," Det.-Insp. Shawn Glassford said in a release. "We are determined to bring justice to Sonia and her family and to that end we will continue to follow up on all tips and leads we receive and are asking the public to continue provide information to our investigators. No tip is too small or insignificant in fact it could be the missing piece of the puzzle that we need to solve this case."
Anyone with information should contact the Orangeville Police Service Tip Line at 519-941-2522, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
