Faculty at Ontario’s 24 colleges reached a tentative agreement with the College Employer Council just four days before the first day of school.
Negotiations began in early June and the deadline to reach an agreement was set for Sunday. A strike date had been set for Sept. 25.
"This has been a productive round of negotiations, and I can not say enough about the quality of the bargaining team and how they represent their members," said OPSEU’s Mark Kotanen. "It was done right – with attention both to the details and the larger issues."
Details of the agreement will be released to the members prior to the ratification vote in late September.
Earlier this month, a tentative agreement was reached between Ontario’s colleges and the union representing college support staff across the province.
