OPP issue rare warning a high-risk offender Leonard Way is living in Oxford County

Police have issued a rare warning saying a high-risk offender with a history of sex crimes including against children is living in Oxford County.

Leonard Kenneth Way is 76 and living on Brownsville Road after just being released from custody after serving a 19-year sentence, Oxford County OPP said.

He has previous convictions for administering a noxious thing, indecent assault on a female, gross indecency, sexual intercourse with a female under 14, unlawful confinement, assault, assault causing bodily harm, possession of burglary tools, theft over and theft under and possession of a prohibited weapon, police said.

He is listed as a high risk offender, but has been released under conditions which include that he is banned from public parks, day cares, school grounds, arcades, amusement parks, playgrounds, public swimming areas where kids under 16 could reasonably expected to be present.

He is also banned from owning firearms, working and can’t be in the company of anyone under 16 unless an adult is present. He also must tell police if he gets involved in a romantic relationship with anyone who has access to kids under 16.

He must report to police regularly and report any change of address, telephone numbers or vehicle to police.
