Mississauga man charged with human trafficking

Peel Regional Police have arrested a man after a human trafficking investigation in Mississauga.

Police say a 24-year-old woman met a man in March last year and was forced into the sex trade industry.

The suspect allegedly profited from the victim’s acts and police say he had control over every aspect of the woman’s life.

Lowell Somerville, 34, of Mississauga was arrested by the OPP near Midland.

He has been charged with human trafficking, exercise control, two counts of receiving material benefit, advertising sexual services, administering a noxious substance, uttering threats and two counts of assault with a weapon.
