Pete Best, the drummer Ringo Starr replaced in the Beatles, has led the birthday greetings to the rocker as he turns 80.
Proving there are no longer any hard feelings, Best joined Paul McCartney among those honouring Starr on his big day on Tuesday.
“Thought about it and thought why not,” he wrote on Twitter. “Happy Birthday Ringo. It’s a special one. Have a good day.”
Best was replaced by Starr in 1962, just before the band hit it big.
Meanwhile, McCartney added: “Happy birthday SIR RICHARD alias RINGO. Have a great day my long time buddy!”
McCartney will be part of a virtual birthday party on Tuesday evening, during which Ringo’s pals like Joe Walsh and Sheryl Crow will perform from their home studios.
The Ringo Starr Big Birthday Show will be a virtual charity concert on the drummer’s YouTube page. Proceeds will benefit Black Lives Matter Global Network, The David Lynch Foundation, MusiCares, and Wateraid.
