If you have youngsters in your life who play guitar, take them to this show. Niederauer is a 15-year-old New Yorker who plays with the intensity of a Tasmanian devil, hence the nickname Taz. It all started when he was eight, saw the movie School of Rock, and knew what he wanted to do with his life. Just four years later, he had learned so much that he starred in the Broadway production of the film, and has since shared the stage with the likes of Derek Trucks, Buddy Guy, Lady Gaga, Gary Clark Jr. and many more of his musical heroes. Particularly sweet was the shout-out from John Mayer, who said he’s the “first young guitar player (who) is not a gimmick.”

July 11, Bluesville Stage, 9 p.m.

Fast becoming a festival fan-favourite, the Austin, Texas-born Alejandro Rose-Garcia has been kicking up plenty of dust on the festival circuit over the last 10 years as Shakey Graves. Whether he’s equipped with only a battered old acoustic and a kick drum in a boot-stomping one-man band, or rocking his three-piece combo, Rose-Garcia is a born performer and gets people moving. A gifted storyteller, his latest album Can’t Wake Up draws some of its lyrical inspiration from The Wizard of Oz and classic Disney cartoons. The Bluesfest gig is a full-band show.
