Two of Canada’s fastest-rising comics are on their way to the Nickel City this month. Sudbury Performance Group has booked Jason Allen and Marc-Anthony Sinagoga as its January headliners.

Allen is a stand-up comic from London, Ont., now living in Hamilton. He has travelled the country, working with such headliners as Tom Segura, Brian Posehn, Kevin Pollak, Jeremy Hotz and MTV’s Jackass as part of their Canadian tour. Allen has been featured in comedy festivals such as JFL 42, the Brantford Comedy Festival, the Border City Comedy Festival and the Cottage Country Comedy Festival.

Sinagoga is a young stand-up comedian who was born and raised in Richmond Hill. Audiences gather to see him relay his outlandish life experiences with brilliant imitation, wit and loveable stage presence. He recreates his life experiences as an overweight Italian going against the family grain in a melting-pot society.

The two comedians perform at the Trevi Bar & Grill, 1837 Lasalle Blvd., at 8 p.m. on Jan. 26. Advance tickets are $20, or $25 at the door the day of the show. They are available online at sudburyperformance.ca or at the Trevi Bar & Grill.

DeCarle returns

The Motley Kitchen is happy to announce that Russell deCarle will be the first artist in 2019 to be presented as part of its dinner-and-a-show series, which takes place Jan. 17.

DeCarle is no stranger to awards and accolades – his years as the lead vocalist and bassist of the iconic Canadian country roots band, Prairie Oyster, were rewarded with six Juno Awards, more than a dozen Canadian Country Music Awards, and enough gold and platinum records and number one singles to fill a living room wall. The band was inducted into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame in 2008. He will be accompanied by ace guitarist Steve Briggs, who is always subtle, tasteful and understated, but central to deCarle’s sound.
