They say: A body moisturizer from the brand Soap & Glory that features softening shea butter and aloe vera ingredients. “A body moisturizing formula so virtuous, you might swear you’re wearing velvet,” the brand packaging declares of the pink-packaged potion.

We say: After showering, our tester smoothed a generous handful of the body butter onto clean skin and massaged it until it all sunk in. The light, buttery formula had a fruity scent, applied easily and absorbed quickly without leaving any trace of slick or a greasy feeling behind. Skin felt smooth and soft with one use. “Worthy of repurchase when finished,” our tester reported.

The say: A men’s cologne from Montblanc that features top notes of green Italian bergamot, heart notes of vetiver from Haiti and base notes of patchouli. The “unconventional woody aromatic leather” scent is billed as “an invitation to a fantastic journey, an irresistible call to adventure.”

We say: Our tester enjoyed the fresh bergamot top notes of this scent. It was a nice departure from the woody or aqua appeal often on offer for men’s scents. A self-proclaimed patchouli disliker, he was pleased with how well the notes mixed and mingled, so that no one aroma was overwhelming.

Stila

In The Buff Powder Spray

They say: A loose setting powder in a unique spray format that “feels like spun silk on skin.” The “microfine” powder promises to blur imperfections and set makeup, while also absorbing surface oil and mattifying skin. Available in three shades: Light/Medium, Illuminating and Medium/Deep.

We say: This setting spray is definitely different. The formula can be sprayed on a brush or puff applicator — but should not be sprayed directly on the face, the packaging proclaims. Our tester spritzed a bit of this powder onto an oversized brush and swept the product over her T-zone. The powder feels silky smooth and, as promised, immediately removed any trace of shine.
