The investigation stems from two armed robberies on Feb. 16 and March 3 at an apartment building in the 700-block of Wonderland Road South. Three suspects were sought by police, who released photos captured of the suspects.

A search warrant for one of the three suspects, Joseph David Marghella, 48, led to a six-hour standoff that ended in spectacular fashion at 48 Kinnear Cr. in London’s Westmount neighbourhood on Tuesday, with police throwing a tear-gas canister into the home and forcing people to flee.

Marghella appeared in court Wednesday, facing seven charges including armed robbery, pointing a firearm, and breaking and entering.
