Over the three-month shutdown, museum staff has been coming up with online offerings, including Brant History Happy Hour, a video series that can be viewed on the historical society’s Facebook page.

Staffer Lillia Dockree also has reworked her seniors outreach program that would normally be presented at area retirement homes. Lillia’s Lessons is a video series that is also on the Facebook page, with the latest episode entitled Crimes and Criminals in Brantford.

Moore notes that a podcast series will get underway on July 11, with new episodes posted every second Saturday at 3 p.m. on the Facebook page.

Meantime, summer camp offerings at Myrtleville House have  taken on a new form due to the pandemic.

“Unfortunately, this year the in-person day camp had to be cancelled,” Moore said. “As an alternative, Myrtleville House will be running a virtual summer camp.”

He said staff has been working to adapt crafts and other activities to a video format that will be posted on the Facebook page each Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 10 a.m.

Colouring pages, virtual house tours and recipes will also be posted on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

All videos are free to access via the Facebook page, while weekly themes and materials lists can be found by visiting www.brantmuseum.ca/virtual-summer-camp.
