The six-week academy also includes a tour of the Brant OPP detachment, an introduction to the OPP auxiliary program and breath-test demonstration.

The OPP is looking for mature, community-minded individuals representing a range of ages and occupations to participate in the academy.

Applications can be picked up at the Brant County OPP detachment, 28 Mechanic St., Paris, and must be submitted by Sept. 10.

Security checks will be done before participants are selected and valid photo identification must be attached to the application.

The academy is being held from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on successive Tuesday nights for six weeks starting Sept. 24 at the Brant fire station in Paris.

A graduation ceremony will be held following completion of the program.
