The annual program, which provides Christmas hampers to more than 1,700 families and individuals, as well as a new toy, books and knitted items to more than 1,800 children, needs a place to operate for 2019.

“We’re still looking for a suitable location,” said Heather Vanner, executive director of Community Resource Service. “Much like last year, we’re having difficulty finding something that suits the program’s needs.”

Christmas Baskets operates from early November to the first weeks of January. Demand for services provided by Christmas Baskets is expected to be high again this year, Vanner said.

Organizers are looking for a location that’s on a bus route and between 5,000 and 10,000 square feet, with loading docks or shipping area. Volunteers work long hours so heat, running water and washrooms are musts, Vanner said.

“Each year, we’ve been ale to work with our community to find suitable donated space,” she said. “But, for the past couple of years, it has been a challenge.
We confident a suitable location is out there for us.”

Anyone with space available that might be suitable for the program is asked to call Vanner at 519-751-4357, ext. 228, or Cindy Oliver, program manager, at 519-751-4357, ext. 226.

Once a suitable location is confirmed, dates for registering for the program will be announced, Vanner said.
