City man found rummaging in dumpster faces charges

A man police say they found rummaging through dumpster bins behind a Charing Cross business is facing charges.

Police responded to a call about a suspicious person on Sunday. Officers spoke to a man they found at the dumpster who told them his name. Police say they later determined that wasn’t his name and he had someone else’s identification.

Police say the suspect also had a small amount of fentanyl.

A 28-year-old Brantford man is charged with possession of identity document, breach of recognizance, and possession of a controlled substance.


Blood-alcohol level three times over legal limit

A driver whose breath samples showed his blood-alcohol level was three times over the legal limit had his licence suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for a week.

Police went to a business on King George Road on Sunday at about 6 p.m. after getting a call about a suspected impaired driver.

A 64-year-old St. George man is charged with operation while impaired and 80 plus.


Wrong way on Dalhousie

A driver travelling the wrong way on Dalhousie Street was reported to police on Sunday.

Police say they got the call at about 2 a.m. They stopped the driver and say he was in possession of a small amount of cocaine. Police say breath samples showed the suspect’s blood-alcohol level was twice the legal limit.

A 29-year-old Cambridge man is charged with impaired operation, 80 plus, and possession of a controlled substance. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for a week.


Police ask for public’s help to find woman

Brantford police are seeking the public’s help to find 40-year-old woman.

Chrystal Thompson is five-foot-six, weighs 141 pounds and has brown hair and hazel eyes. She was last seen wearing black

heeled shoes, a purple skirt and black top.

Police said Thompson is new to the city and is known to travel between Brantford and Woodstock.

Police said they are concerned about the woman’s well-being.
