City men charged, $196,000 worth of fentanyl seized

Almost $200,000 worth of fentanyl was seized by Brantford police who have charged three men and six women after searches at three homes in the city and a fourth in Kitchener.

A news release issued on Wednesday said members of the Brantford police task force began a drug investigation in the spring that culminated in searches on Tuesday at homes on Pearl Street, Queensway Drive, Banbury Road and, in Kitchener, on Westmount Road East.

Police say they seized a large quantity of Canadian money, 784 grams of fentanyl with a street value of $196,000, 40 milligrams of OxyNeo tablets with a street value of $2,600, eight 20 milligram Oxycodone tablets with a street value of $160, a pump action shotgun, 21 shotgun shells, 14 rounds of 9 mm ammunition, seven rounds of 45-calibre ammunition, and a hydraulic press.

Also seized by police were a 2013 Audi R5Q and a 2016 Porsche Cayenne that are being investigated as property obtained by crime.

Three of the people charged were held for bail hearings and are facing a number of charges. Six others, say police, are facing charges related to the investigation and will appear in court at a later date.

Skylar James Beal, 23, of Brantford is facing numerous charges, including possession for the purpose of trafficking, careless storage of a firearm, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, possession of a firearm, and tampering with a serial number of a firearm.

Ryan Oliver Reed, 23, of Brantford, faces charges that include possession for the purpose of trafficking, careless storage of a firearm, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose (taser), possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose (shotgun), and tampering with a serial number of a firearm.

Edison Tyler Beal, 23, of Kitchener, is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, careless storage of a prohibited device (ammunition), and breach of probation.
