MARCH

LEGION SUPPER: Waterford Legion will be serving a schnitzel supper on March 1 at 5:30 p.m. Cost is $13 and includes dessert.

LOVE LETTERS: Simcoe Little Theatre presents Love Letters by A.R. Gurney from March 2 to 12. Tickets on sale at simcoelittletheatre.org or by calling 519-583-0505. Cost is $22 for adults; $10 for students; and $25 for opening night March 2, which includes a special reception with cast and crew.

WING NIGHT:  Will be held Friday, March 3 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Simcoe Legion, West Street, Simcoe.  Cost is $11 for one pound of wings or $30 for three pounds; onion rings, $5.50; fries $4. Held in the Memorial Hall. Everyone welcome.

MESSY CHURCH:  The Messy Church’s theme for the March 4 event is March of the Penguins. Join them for family fun, crafts, music story and hot lunch. Held from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at St. Paul’s United Church, 88 Bidwell St., in Tillsonburg. Please enter by ramp door. No charge.

COUNTRY DANCE:  A country dance will be held at the Tillsonburg Legion on March 4, featuring Ken Lightheart and the Northshore Ramblers from 7-11 p.m. Tickets $15 at the Legion, 16 Durham Street. Doors open at 6 p.m. All welcome. For more information call 519-842-5281.

PANCAKE FUNDRAISER: A fundraiser for Oxford County 4-H will be held March 4, 5, 11, 12, 15, 18, 19, 25, 26, April 1, 2 at Jakeman’s Maple Products on Trillium Line in Sweaburg.  Members of Oxford 4-H will be preparing and serving pancake meals from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. each day listed. Cash only.

IRISH SING-ALONG:  At Grace United Church, 18 Chapman St. W. in Port Dover on Monday, March 6 at 7 p.m. All welcome to join in singing When Irish Eyes are Smiling, My Wild Irish Rose, Black Velvet Band, Danny Boy and many other tunes. $2 donation to cover costs.

TILLSONBURG HORTICULTURAL: Tillsonburg Horticultural Society will be holding its next meeting on March 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the Senior Centre, Tillsonburg Community Centre. Meeting will feature a ‘panel of knowledge’ where Jim Mabee, Cheryl Losch and Matt Fenn will answer garden questions and more. Prize draw for participants. Social time will be held. All are welcome.

FISH AND CHIPS:  Simcoe Legion will be offering fish and chip dinners for sale on Wednesday, March 8 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Meals also include coleslaw, rolls and butter.  Cost is $10 for one piece of fish, $13 for two pieces of fish and $15 for a three-piece chicken finger dinner. Legion is located on West Street in Simcoe.

HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY: The Simcoe and District Horticultural Society will be welcoming Heidi Mungal from Generations Marketplace to its March 8 meeting.  She will be speaking about sustainable homesteading.  The meeting is at 7:30 p.m. at the Junior Farmers building at the Simcoe fairgrounds.  Admission is free and there will be door prizes, a light lunch and refreshments.  For more info contact helenuren@live.ca or call 226-440-2699.

FISH AND CHIPS: Waterford Legion will be serving fish and chips on March 10. Eat in or take out. Sales at 4:30 p.m. (in person). Cost is $11.50 for one piece of fish and $16 for two pieces. Children’s meal is $7.

PUB QUIZ: Waterford Legion Pub Quiz Night will be held Friday,  March 17 starting at 7 p.m. in the clubroom.  

IRISH NIGHT: Waterford Legion presents Irish Night on Saturday, March 18 from 7 to 11 p.m. in the legion clubroom. Music by Doppleganger. Serving corned beef and cabbage with potatoes.
