Finally, Aug. 12 Ferris admitted to throwing dishes at a different woman and putting a hole in the door of a man’s property. He pleaded guilty to assault, mischief under $5,000 and breach of bail conditions.

Justice Aubrey Hilliard gave Ferris enhanced credit for the 70 days he had already spent in jail for a sentence of 105 days.

He was ordered to stay away from his victims and get assessed for counselling in substance abuse.

Man pleads guilty to assault

A man who assaulted a woman and took her cell phone was ordered to look into counselling for substance abuse and domestic violence when he appeared recently in Simcoe’s Ontario Court.

Arthur Steven Zufelt, 44, pleaded guilty to assaulting the woman and breaking probation orders on March 17 last year, breaching his bail orders on August 1 and failing to comply with a recognizance on Sept. 12 when he was again in contact with the woman and another person he had been ordered to stay away from.

Jail time for suspended driver

A Waterford man who was already under restrictions due to driving crimes was charged in October with another set of offences.

Richard Pryce, 39, immediately pleaded guilty to two counts of breaking bail conditions and driving while suspended.

Pryce was stopped on Oct. 19 and also charged with speeding, and driving without insurance or a vehicle permit.

At the time, Pryce was under a form of house arrest and orders not to drive, have keys for a vehicle or to sit in the driver’s seat of a vehicle.

Justice Robert Gee gave Pryce credit for already serving 51 days in jail and ordered him to serve another 69 days for a global sentence of four months.
