Delhi man charged after jailhouse investigation

An investigation into drugs in the Hamilton jail has resulted in two former correctional officers – one of them from Delhi – being charged with distributing cannabis.

Pierre-Luc Plouffe, 39, of Delhi and James McRae, 30, of Kitchener both worked at the Hamilton Wentworth Detention Centre.

After a six-month joint investigation by the Hamilton Police Service Intelligence Unit and the jail, the men were charged with distributing cannabis and other contraband to inmates.

Along with the drug charges, they were each charged with breach of trust by a public officer as well.

The police say each of the men was working independently to one another and neither are employed as correctional officers any longer.
