Enbridge’s Ken Hall presented the cheque to Joe Faas, chair of the SCRCA, during a small ceremony at the conservation area.

The $5,000 donation will go towards supporting the construction of a pond edge boardwalk, a dedicated roadside walkway and a trail-stabilizing retaining wall, according to a media release from the SCRCA.

Hall said the money donated by Enbridge was aimed at facilitating improved safety conditions for the approximately 10,000 students who use the area annually to learn about environmental issues impacting the region, as well as members of the public who visit the area and/or use the adjacent campground.

“At Enbridge safety is always our number one priority and this commitment extends to our engagement with the municipalities where we have assets and infrastructure,” Hall said. “Enbridge is very pleased to support this SCRCA project at Lorne C. Henderson Conservation Area as the safety of the thousands of students and members of the public that use the Conservation Area is very important to Enbridge and the SCRCA.”
