“Some plants may be damaged or even destroyed by frost,” the agency said. “Take preventative measures to protect frost-sensitive plants and trees.”

Temperatures are expected to fall to near the freezing mark early this morning before warming up again after sunrise.

At least Sunday will be partly sunny, a break from the rain weather Sudbury has experienced for the past week. The high, however, will only be 6 degrees C.

Rain, however, will return for the beginning of the week. Partly sunny skies won’t return until Friday, Environment Canada is predicting.

The agency said frost advisories are issued when temperatures are expected to reach the freezing mark during the growing season, leading to potential damage and destruction to plants and crops.

People should continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ONstorm@canada.ca or tweet reports using #ONStorm.
