Espanola Elks host another successful Christmas Hamper Fundraiser

On Saturday, Nov. 30, the Espanola Elks set up their donation table near inside entrance to FreshCo and collected donations from shoppers, for their 42nd annual Christmas Hamper Fundraiser. Rosalind Russell, Moose FM morning host, partnered with them, providing seasonal music for the occasion.

Sheri Commission, said the five-hour event raised about $4,500, which will provide approximately 160 hampers for local families who are less fortunate this Christmas season. The hampers provide everything that is needed for a proper Christmas feast, including the turkey, stuffing, gravy, vegetables and cranberry sauce. The people who do the shopping for these hampers make sure nothing is left out.

The hampers will be delivered on Dec. 21, early in the morning, to homes in Nairn Centre, Massey, Espanola, Whitefish Falls and other small communities in the area.

Besides Commission, others helping at the fundraiser were: Danny Tobodo, Jack Luoma, Frank Beer, Gary Tennant and Ron Fullaway.
