Firearms, silencers seized in Sturgeon Falls

Two silencers and six guns were seized from a Sturgeon Falls resident last week.
Nipissing West OPP said agents from the Canada Border Services Agency contacted them on Oct. 17, reporting they had intercepted a package containing a sound suppressor for a firearm that was destined for a resident on Quesnel Road in Sturgeon Falls.
On Nov. 5, officers from the Sudbury OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau and the Northeast Community Street Crime Unit executed a search warrant at the residence.
Officers arrested William Fetterly, 53, from Sturgeon Falls and seized two firearm suppressors (or silencers) and six firearms.
Fetterly is charged with two counts of importing a prohibited device and unauthorized possession of a weapon.
The accused was released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to attend court in North Bay on Dec. 5.
