Man charged with arson

One person is in custody following a house fire near Waterford on Monday night.
Concession 6 Townsend was closed between Highway 24 and Old Highway 24 as the Norfolk County Fire Department worked to extinguish the flames around 11 p.m. on March 30.
When officers arrived on the scene they located a person on the property. The person indicated to officers that they had a firearm before fleeing the area.
OPP K9 services and an OPP remote piloted aerial system were used to locate the individual, who was then taken into custody.
The 39-year-old Norfolk County man located was charged with arson – damage to own property.
The volunteer firefighters were able to prevent the fire from spreading to another nearby residence.
No injuries were reported.
Investigation continues.
