Joy ride gone wrong: police

No injuries were reported in what police called a joy ride gone wrong.

A single-vehicle collision Saturday ended with a Jeep in a river.

Police responded to the collision on Commercial Road near Port Dover at around 3:20 a.m. 

Police say that the driver stopped the Jeep at the end of the roadway and then accelerated over a seawall into a river.

The driver attempted to drive out of the water, but got stuck, said police.

The driver and a passenger were not injured.

The vehicle was removed on March 29 by a towing service.

Norfolk OPP continue to investigate.
