A total of 5,322 test results have been received locally, with 96 per cent returned negative for COVID-19.

Lambton public health Thursday announced randomly selected adults in the coming weeks will be contacted for a telephone survey, conducted by Ipsos Public Affairs on behalf of the health unit.

“Everyone in communities across Lambton County and around the world has been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic,” said public health epidemiologist Crystal Palleschi in a press release.

“Responses to the survey will improve our understanding of the impact of public-health measures and help us identify and address community needs.”

The survey is also being used to measure awareness and use of public health information about COVID-19, health unit officials said.

Expect questions on:

• temporary job losses;

• how looking after children has affected employment;

• impacts of social isolation;

• potential issues with providing care to loved ones; and

• mental health and well-being.

“We do population-based surveys routinely, but it seemed like this was a good chance to include questions about COVID-19, questions about how folks have been responding in the community, questions about what their current knowledge and attitudes are related to COVID-19,” said Dr. Sudit Ranade, Lambton’s medical officer of health.

There are currently three institutional outbreaks, all in Sarnia, including the Vision and Marshall Gowland Manor nursing homes, and the Village on the St. Clair retirement home.

One resident has tested positive at Marshall Gowland Manor and two at Village on the St. Clair.
