At about 8 p.m. on Saturday, Norfolk OPP were sent to the same address to investigate a report of a woman in distress.

Police arrived to discover the same 35-year-old woman was unconscious. She had no heart beat, wasn’t breathing and had again overdosed on opioids.

Police again administered Naloxone and had the woman taken to Norfolk General Hospital where she became alert and was able to speak to physicians and medical staff.

“When you put an opioid into your body you’re really rolling the dice and there is a good chance that you won’t come back,” Sanchuk said. “You could die.

“In this case officers were twice able to administer Naloxone and twice saved this woman’s life.”

Sanchuk urged people to use common sense, be safe and if you know someone who is addicted to opioids reach out and try to get them some help.

“Officers attending this address were able to quickly identify an opioid overdose and saved this women’s life by administering Naloxone,” Insp. Joe Varga, Detachment Commander of the Norfolk OPP, said. “When someone is overdosing, minutes can make the difference between life and death. The Naloxone kits are an additional tool which OPP officers utilize to keep our communities safe.”
