Another COVID-19 death reported in Haldimand and Norfolk

Another COVID-19 related death was reported on Sunday morning, bringing the total number of deaths in Haldimand and Norfolk to 31.

Until Sunday, there had been no deaths recorded from the virus since April 26.

According to numbers provided by the Haldimand Norfolk Health Unit, there have been 205 positive cases and 2,263 negative cases. Of those who have tested positive, 82 have recovered.

Anson Place, a retirement home and long-term care facility in Hagersville, has had 27 deaths due to COVID-19.

In an update on Thursday, Lisa Roth, executive director at Anson Place, said the number of residents with COVID-19 in the retirement residence remained at four, and the number of cases in their care facility at 16.

Roth also said 12 long-term care residents have been cleared of COVID-19 when retests came back negative.

On Thursday, officials announced a resident at the Cedar Crossing Retirement Home in Simcoe has tested positive for the virus. Parkview Meadows in Townsend confirmed last week that a resident at the retirement facility had tested positive.

The total number of negative cases sits at 2,242.

The number of people now recovered from COVID-19 in H-N is 82, according to the daily report from the Haldimand Norfolk Health Unit.
