A plane was forced to make an emergency landing in a field after losing power during takeoff from the Tillsonburg airport.

Three crew members were on-board a Cessna 172 when it took off from the airport on Friday at about 6 p.m. for a training mission with the Civil Air Search and Rescue Association (CASARA) when the engine failed, the association said.

OPP officers and firefighters responded after the crew contacted police following the emergency landing of the single-engine aircraft in a field off the end of the runway. Nobody was injured and the aircraft wasn’t damaged, said CASARA, a volunteer organization that supports the Canadian air force in search-and-rescue missions.
