An overpass in Sarnia is closed and Ontario’s Special Investigation Unit is investigating after a motorcycle crash early Wednesday, police say.
At about 3:20 a.m., a Sarnia police officer on patrol saw a stolen motorcycle being driven, police said. The motorcycle fled from police and was later located, involved in a crash, police said.
The driver of the motorcycle was taken to hospital. The driver’s injuries are believed to not be life threatening, police said.
Due to the nature of the crash, the SIU invoked its mandate and is investigating, police said.
The Indian Road overpass was closed at Campbell Street, along with southbound traffic on Indian Road at Confederation Street, and northbound traffic on Indian Road at Plank Road.
Police said the area was reopening to traffic around 2:30 p.m.
