RAINE HAMILTON PLAYS MIRAMICHI HOUSERaine Hamilton (right) performed at Miramichi house in Fairview Oct. 18 with her friend Nat Felicitas on cello (left). Hamilton has a wonderful voice and crafts her own songs but isn’t shy about singing others songs if they move her. She performed one Joanie Mitchell song during her concert and Gordon Lightfoot as an encore. She said later that the Gorie Lightfoot song was the first one she learned to play on the guitar. She fell in love with the violin at age 3 and her parents indulged her with an instrument and lessons. Her father is a guitarist himself so the talent may be inherited to some degree. Her friend Nat travels with her when it makes sense and describes herself as having one foot in each camp – classical and folk. The two work together on music for the songs, especially making the cello and integral part of the performance rather than just supplying a base line.CHRIS EAKIN/FAIRVIEW POST/POSTMEDIA NETWORK
